On Thursday, April 16, 2009, the Reeds Road Advanced Band had the opportunity of a lifetime! During the day, we attended a clinic and then we rehearsed “Star Wars” with the world famous Dallas Brass. At night, we watch the first half of the concert and then after intermission we performed on stage with the Dallas Brass . Throughout my whole career I have taken my bands to California, Canada, Virginia Beach, Myrtle Beach, New York, Orlando, and to a College Bowl Game to perform at halftime. All great experiences that I will cherish forever, but this event is by far the best experience I have ever had for my students. The Dallas Brass are professional, extremely talented, funny, great with kids, inspirational, and motivational! The Dallas Brass is a MUST SEE event! And, the best part is they’ll be back in May Landing in 3 years. Can’t wait!

It gives me great pleasure in announcing Jessica Perez as a member of the 2009 SJBODA (South Jersey Band and Orchestra Directors Association) Jr. High Honors Band. Jessica is the ONLY percussionist in Reeds Roads History to ever make it in the Honors Band. Some other former Reeds Road students to make it include Alexis Rodriguez in 2007 and Erin Fanelli in 2003, both on Clarinet. To make it in the Jr. High Honors Band, Jessica competed against other 6th, 7th, & 8th graders from all over South Jersey counties, including Atlantic, Cape May, and as far away as Camden and Ocean counties.
